These two photos were first individually scanned and all dots and blemishes removed. The woman was lightened and the man darkened so their tonal range was more of a match. They were then placed together in a new file, the woman was enlarged for a better balance and the area under the man's right hand heavily toned down to a deep shadow. Finally a new background was airbrushed in  and a sepia toning added to complete the picture.
